Neurosurgery Department at St. Raphael’s Hospital specialises in surgical treatment of brain, spinal cord, and spinal disorders, as well as peripheral nervous system disorders.

Services:

  • surgery for brain tumours in all locations and pituitary tumours (as part of an oncology package), vascular diseases (aneurysms and angiomas),
  • hydrocephalus surgeries and other central nervous system (CNS) disorders, including treatment of craniocerebral traumas
  • functional neurosurgery procedures (deep brain stimulation for Parkinson’s disease, vagus nerve stimulation for drug-resistant epilepsy, microsurgical operations for trigeminal neuralgia)
  • surgeries for degenerative and disc diseases of the spine (disc prolapse – sciatica, spinal canal stenosis), also using implants and minimally invasive techniques such as percutaneous stabilisation (minimally invasive treatment of traumatic spinal fractures) and vertebroplasty (percutaneous cementing of fractured vertebral bodies in osteoporosis, trauma, and cancer)
  • neuro-oncological surgeries for spinal tumours, spinal canal tumuors, and peripheral nerve tumours using microsurgical techniques
  • carpal tunnel syndrome surgeries, ulnar tunnel syndrome surgeries, and surgeries of traumatic peripheral nerve injuries with the option of nerve repair with cable grafts
